A second-rate country depending on a 3rd rate government system to deliver something this important, yet some of you people make this a political issue first. My friends, you get what you pay for. Simple - government delivered health care is inefficient.

If you eat well, practice good hygiene regularly, exercise frequently your body should be able to fend off colds, flu, etc. I have never taken a flu shot have not been sick with a cold for as long as I can remember. You are what you eat. The strong get stronger the weak get weaker. If people spent the same amount of time caring for their bodies as they do their possessions they would be stronger and healthier.

I'm not a big fan of McGuinty adn his liberal government but I don't think they are to blame for the vaccine shortage.

There are 2 theories in my mind. Te first is quite simple, the companies didn't realize there would be such a high demand and or couldn't make it as fast as they first thought, which happens. The second is that they are sending it to the states which has a real shortage and getting more money for it. If the second one is the case then something should be done.

Is it the governments fault, no, all levels of government warned the public and if someone hasn't heard the symptoms or precautisons needed then they have been living under a rock.

The people have little to no trust in anything the government says or does.

The media calls this flu round a "pandemic". It is too early to call it a "pandemic". It is flu season.

Is the government engineering a crisis? Again?

Is there more out there than the government has been willing to tell us? Or is it really less than what we are being told? Is the vaccine safe with meager testing?

If the people are worried about this seasons' flu, the government should accept a large chuck of blame as they created a environment of distrust.

Who really knows the truth behind this flu?

The media/internet is causing the hype. Realistically speaking, looking at the stats, 99.9% of those contracting H1N1 will have normal flu symptoms and will recover no problem. 0.1% will have severe complications requiring hospitalization. Less than 0.01% will unfortunately die from these severe complications. More than half of those have underlying conditions, not including pregnancy.

H1N1 doesn't seem so bad anymore does it, with a little perspective.

''The leaders of this country are failing people on h1n1.

bruce, 2009-10-30 16:29:04''

just one more incident in a long and seemingly never ending litany of failures on the part of our governments.

We have been straddled with incompetency for far too long.

It seems are politicians only 'get it right' when their own personal interests are at stake.

We need our government to be accountable to the people, we need them to let professionals do their job properly instead of turning everything into a political game of 'oneupmanship'.

It seems that on every topic from our environment, to healthcare and justice, from our education to our infrastructure, the only ones that ever com out on top are the politicos and their buddies.

I doubt that any of our revered and 'honorable' members of parliament are lining up for hours to get a flu shot in the rain just to be told they will have to come back later.

No folks, we need some change in the way our country is run. And no, that is not an endorsement of the Liberals over the Conservatives, The Libs had a lot of majorities with which they could have made a difference but they chose to take advantage of the system for themselves at the expense of our country, now it's the conservative's turn at the public trough.

Enough is enough! We need to somehow implement some changes and we need to start those changes now, because the system we have in place just isn't viable in the long term (in my humble opinion).

So where do we start?

MAKES YOU THINK???????

Next week, children under 5, pregnant women will receive the H1N1 in our community.

BIZARRE!!!!!!!!

After an increase of sick Military staff, the vaccine is being offered on Saturday & Sunday.

Now, if the people protecting our country are taking this vaccine, don`t you think there is a reason?

A lot of hospitals are making it manditory for their medical staff to take the vaccine.

This is why, my daughter & I have decided to take the vaccine.

INFLUENZA - Flu shot only offered in January in our area! Last year it was given in October!

*Could not believe it?

uplink says..

"We've all had the flu this season anyway"

Yea sure you have. Most silly people say when they are sick they have the FLU that GOING AROUND

Its your CON Harper who is stirring up the fear, who claimed there would enough vacine for everyon.

But now his priority is the Olympics and spending money on it.

Did you see him today?

Whats with that smile

EH?
tweetypie, 2009-10-30 21:57:06

Well if you work for the Olympics you dont have to worry.

Seems the right wing government of BC and the CON Harper government, are cutting back on things like school sports . And ordinary people, even high risk people are not able to get the vacine.

but yet the people who work for the Olympics, who are receiving on average, 25,000 dollars bonus just for doing their job, are receiving the vacine.

Seems they cant be sick during the Olympics. That is a HIGH PRIORITY .

Disgusted EH?

In WCF's little fantasy world, anyone not a Conservative is somehow responsible for Harper's failings as a leader. Somehow Ignatieff is at fault because Harper spent 30x on commercials stating (falsely) that his party is great than he spent on informing us about the swine flu. If this alone doesn't prove him incapable I don't know what does.

I've seen first-hand two Conservative Shuffle when I lived in Alberta. No matter the risk or the pressure to do something over mad cow, their approach was to do nothing and hope it goes away. These are not the type of people you want to trust with your health (or your pocketbook).
