A new guide for aspiring Canadian citizens will warn off "barbaric" cultural practices that physically harm women.
The book, to be officially launched today by Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, contains a special section on "The Equality of Women and Men."
"In Canada, men and women are equal under the law. Canada's openness and generosity do not extend to barbaric cultural practices that tolerate spousal abuse, 'honour killings,' female genital mutilation or other gender-based violence," the document reads.
Unfortunately paul Twitless is a Canadian. BrucetheIDIOT (Bruceification/Jessica/Will/Attak (sic)/Diefenbaker/Karen (the one and only)/Oracle is an American. The Twitless one does live in B.C. Well well well, my apoligies then. I guess I was wrong in suggetsing that Canada, as a nation, has matured in it's thinking and distanced itself from the paranoia that resulted in regrettable (but justifiable within the level of thinking at the time) actions like rounding up japanese people based on their race, during a time of war.
Obviously there are still a few who are stuck in that antiquated way of thinking, and twitty, you seem to ahve thought this through long and hard and have clearly identified yourself as one of them, eh?
You also have to realize that, at times of war, you can never be certain where the loyalties of transplanted citizens may lie. Just look at what happened in downtown toronto whan the Tamil tigers got into trouble a thousand miles away. Next thing you know, the downtown is shut down by who, by Canadian citizens still loyal to these terrorists overseas. If Canada was actually at war with that group, how could you not think that any of these protestors might just do something significant that would screw Canada in a major way, like bomb the CN tower or something else. Totally feasibly and clearly explains where the paranoid thinking comes from. When it comes to patriotism to ones home country, and fanaticism in general, it is very difficult to balance the individual rights with national security. But with so much at stake, you simply have to err on the side of national security.

Liberal MP Maurizio Bevilacqua said that while he would have liked to see more discussion of the contribution of immigrants in Canada, the guide does what it should.
“I think it will serve new Canadians well,” he said.
Even some Liberals like the guide so stop acting like immature little babies and at least acknowledge there are some good things in the guide.
