Should Canada's national anthem be changed?
Thu, February 10, 2011

“O Canada,” the country’s national anthem, has included the line, “True patriot love in all thy sons’ command,” for nearly 100 years.

Ottawa now wants to start a public discussion on whether Canada should adopt a gender-neutral version of the song.

"we stand on guard for thee". who does canada stand on guard for? hong kong investors, cliff olson, and lazy old hippies destroying the economy for 40+ years. i stand guard AGAINST those things, not for them.

Schools now have to play an instrumental version in order to not offend anyone. My advice to anyone who gets offended by history is simple.... GET A LIFE. Why is it every time someone cries about being offended by something, instead of saying "It's part of our history" the Government tries to change it to please them. Is this Canada or is this the country that's just a pitstop for anyone who wants to screw it over and then leave?

yes definitely lets change it to The Star Spangled Banner...this country SUCKS!

By all means, lets change it. I suggest for our new anthem,a song by the Arrogant Worms called "Me like Hockey".

Time to summarize.

I'm not a big Trudeau fan.

I've always stated that the anthem should remain untouched as it represents our history. History should never be changed to suit anybodies ends.

I brought up PET because it was posted that PET was the one who last changed our national anthem and I simply cannot find anything to support that. If someone wants to link me something in a post I'll be more than happy to check it out, but from what I researched having 'O Canada' as our national anthem was a movement started long before Trudeau and I cannot find anything that would suggest he made or ordered changes to it before it was ushered in as our national anthem.

Do we go and change a Heritage Site because it offends someone??

Don;t go changing our National Anthem, it is our Heritage, History and Honour.

leave our anthem alone. Thank you. If you who have just recently moved to Canada, don't like our anthem, go back where you came from.

Boohahahaha! That pretty well says it all folks. Even on a first name basis!

When Trudeau was PM he spent like a drunken sailor and left this country in a deep financial mess - with no recession involved - so it's amazing that you would fawn all over the arrogant SOB after repeated posts in just about EVERY thread about Harper's deficit - which does have a major recession as a major cause.

Some village just posted a notice that they want their idiot back. Could that be you?
Pragmatic, 2011-02-17 14:53:08

Yes let us thank PET for all he did to this country.

1. took us from a budgetary surplus to a deficit.

2. Saddled us with multi-culturalism that is destroying our country

3. the Charter of Rights and freedoms that contain no responsibilities in it.

4. the systematic rust-out of our armed forces.

5. for expanding the gulf between the two solitudes

yes he did a lot to this country and that was just the tip of his legacy

PET the worst thing to happen to Canada in 144 years
