Sure, let them keep their benefits..They can use them to pay for their food, shelter, clothing while incarcerated. Why should other taxpayers pay for their upkeep?

Sure, provide them benefits if you want, but then charge them for every penny they cost the court system, the police who had to do the investigation, their room, their food, their medical, and every other darn expense that the Canadian taxpayer is ) forced to pay for their upkeep!

Old folks housed in long-term care facilities are charged a rate scaled to their incomes. The facility takes most of their money as rent. Do the same with the prisoners.

Sign the petition to have pensions/benefits to prison inmates.

He was a tax payer prior to his imprisonment so why not give him the pension. We give it to those who come from afar and stay just long enough to apply then go back to where they came from without putting anything into this country.... so why not give him his pension. As well without Mr Olsen and others like him we wouldn't have the healthy tax generating employment of guards and penitentiary staff. So.. why not give him the pension? We give it to politicians who serve a mediocre time in service then reap the substantial MP pension payments. What about the senators. Don't get me started.. Give Olsen the pension money then we'll go back to sleep like good little children and forget how corrupt our system really turns out to be!

"Stephen Harper was personally upset to learn serial child killer Clifford Olson was collecting a federal pension behind bars and said his government is determined to claw back the benefits'

Good for Stephen Harper.

But not a peep out of the No Democracy Party or the Librano's.

But we know where they stand on justice.

Firmly behind the Criminals and Killers.

No they don't deserve it and if we had it right our inmates would be working every day with picks and shovels digging deep holes in the Manitoba to capture some of the flood waters.

Might take twenty years but the labour would be free!

I don't think our politicinas should get gold plated pensions either. You won't hear that debated at parlimnet now will we.

these people already get free education, free health care, dental care, eyewear etc. and dont give me that...well they have to give up their freedom of movement..well doesnt it just suck to be them...they took freedom from other people so suck it up buttercup..no rewards, no benefits, no nothing! they deserve absolutely nothing!
dudette, 2010-03-25 12:19:11

Absolutely not!! they have contributed absolutely nothing to society, and get more benefits then those who do. Once again a bunch of bleeding heart liberals are trying to make prisons into hotels...get a grip
