To David Akin - Please talk to the folks who play cricket inside Rideau Hall. Cricket has been played since 1860s and a month ago the same GG's hubby caused problem.

This GG (hubby) dont care about commonwealth tradition where cricket as a sport is notable.

Personally this GG has been only interested in Haiti. How can u behave liek that when you are a GG of Canada.

How soon the colonies forget the only reason they enjoy the lifestyle and privilages they have today is the dead British soldiers buried in this country that handed it to them on a plate.

Grow up and show some respect.

Chris1 - first of all, whenever the Queen (and before her the King(s) is in Canada, the GG makes him/herself scarce. That's traditional.

As for Lafond, it will be interesting to see what comes out of his flat out denial of ever having said any such thing. Was this some s*&t-disturbing journalist misinterpreting a comment made by someone else and attributing it to him? We may never know for sure, but it wouldn't be the first time someone quoted "confidential sources."

Having said that, I agree with everything else you say regarding "royalty" and their expensive trappings.

We as a land need to get rid of all sponges and bums from the public purse and grow as a multi people land whorshiping nobody other than our own ideals. This means the Queen and Govenor General need be given the huge royal boot.

As some have aluded, this is what happens when REAL Canadians aren't put into positions that represent our country. It's like having me represent China. It ain't gonna happen. Our politicians are so out of touch it isn't even funny. Send this guy to Haiti and let him mock that country. Oh wait, that's racist. How about the next GG being from a long, Canadian lineage who has respect for our Country, heritage and customs.

"...it belongs to the Canadian tax payers."

It's actually Crown property, much like the bulk of the land that was recently given away by McWimpy to his aboriginal brothers and sisters... Billions of dollars in land and assets that were supposed to be held in trust for all of our children, not just those of some small group...

Fire the damnable lot of them and hire some responsible adults.... Although that's not possible when you're speaking about Ontario where the electorate is comprised manly of vocal special interest groups who elect whomever will give them the most handouts.

Bloody Canadian politicians couldn't manage an hotdog stand without going bankrupt...

I do have a problem with any bum , royal or not , mooching and sponging on the Canadian public purse.

I do not believe we need this added expense of paying 2.5 million dollars for some old lady to visit this land.

A land where more than half are not even British ancestry and many are direct decendents of the enemy who fought Britian in both world wars.

Nor do we need the huge expense on the public purse of this Govoner General whose sole purpose seems to be to travel as expensivly and lavishly as possible with her entire fleet of public servants asskissing to her every need. But serving no real purpose to the welbeing of Canada.

We have people in this land who desperately need some form of public help in education and training or just a bit more in their old age pensions.

Food bank usage is at an all time high . And yet we condone these sponges of society.

It is high time we got rid of these hugly overpaid public baffoons.

Maybe this needs be put to a vote , eh?

...and toss in terrorism charges for his involvement in the known terrorist organization FLQ.

How did Jean get in with this waste of flesh skank husband living on her apron strings? Seriously, there must be something he can be charged with to address this disgusting insult.

How would this dolt feel if our PM insulted the French leaders? Put the shoe on the other terrorist/separatist foot.

Unbelievable...
