What should happen to the Tamil asylum seekers? Tue, August 17, 2010
More than three dozen Tamil migrants have been segregated from 492 others who arrived by boat for questioning by police on suspicion of being linked to the Tamil Tigers, or other inadmissible groups, including war criminals.
Send them back take care of our own first. We don't need the burden on our healthcare system and welfare system as we all know they will be on welfare.

Ship of Fools has landed in Canadian Port of Fools.
That's partially right. It's true though, countries used to put their insane or otherwise unwanted citizens on a ship & set it a float on the high seas.
Than the ship sometimes came to port on a foreign shore much to the entertainment & bewilderment of the people who inhabitant the land.
Send them back to their homeland is my vote.

SEND THEM BACK!!!!
No stories. No bleeding hearts. Either come thru the proper channels or don't come at all. These people with fake ID or missing ID are hiding something.

"Other countries have turned them away"
Yea who? Care to name those countries?

According to the UN Sri Lanka is not a country where refugees need assylum. There is something very fishy about how a migrant Tamil could afford $45 to $50.000 dollars to come to Canada. I don't think we are obligated to take care of them. Send them back.

Oh yes without a doubt this country was built on immigration.
By immigrants who came expecting no hand outs knowing full well they would have to work very hard and long to build a new country that was proud, strong and give it's citizens a good life. Not by immigrants who landed here knowing full well that the Canadian government will give them free food, medical and accomodations then a regular cheque 3 times as much or more then our born here retirees.
Why Canada?? Simple no other country will do it or has such a high standard of living.
These are not immigrants but people of opportunity who are here to take advantage of this country, not try and improve it. I'd bet good money that if you asked the majority of immigrants from the past 10 years if they would fight for this country if necessary, they would give a resounding "NO" since they don't consider it their country just a good place to live.
Send them back!

They should never have been allowed off the boat. Now no matter what we do we are wrong. If we allow them in we open the flood gates and are seen as weak fools by the rest of the world. If we turn them away we are inhumane.
The boat should have been stopped at our border to international waters and inspected there. They should not have been allowed to make port unless it was a martime distress situation.
The other Common wealth countries did the right thing. We should follow their good example.

They are not immigrants, they are people seeking asylum. Other countries have turned them away. In a gesture of humanitarian goodwill we should offer them medical treatment, if required, food, water, and send them on their way.
Otherwise you may as well just abolish the Canadian border services and let anyone who wants to walk in, because they will anyway.
