We're full....enough people living off the fat of the land. Turn them back to discourage any other potential "cue jumpers" there is a proper way to come here if they have no respect for that law why should we think they would have respect for other laws here?

If those Tamil refugees don't want to stay in Sri Lanka, why don't they go back to India which is much much closer? Why is India not responding and not providing aid to these people? Turn them away or else we have other countries trying to off load their problems to Canada which we no longer can afford to deal with.

A long time ago it was accepted to allow people into our country-now, with proven track records of crime, job loss (for Canadians), loss of who Canadians really are---where else in the world can people have their customs overrule ours?? What do these countries do for us? We are steadily losing Canada; it is being changed into a new world, one that scary and disrespectful, with our beliefs overpowered by other religions coming in. Take a stand as Australia has. If you abide by our rules and beliefs, then perhaps you can stay. If we were to go to other countries do you really think we would be treated as foreigners are here? Why do we not get a vote on this? Am I the only one irritated at seeing immigrants in our Parliament, on our news casts, etc., that can barely speak English??? Prejudiced/racist I am not-however, this is OUR country--and we are losing it at an alarming rate. How will it end???

WE ARE CANADIANS!! Our country was built on the concept of immigration. Since when did we start to even think about turning away people in need? We should be ashamed of getting influenced by stereotyping and loosing respect to human lifes. None of us would have been part of this country if the generation before our grandparents thought the same way.

I definitely think Canada should turn away these people.. I live here all my life and I'll be damnned if any of these people get jobs that I can't get... Its hard enough trying to find a job as is for me! We don't need 490 more people searching for jobs as well!

The Canadian soldiers who died in Europe and in the Pacific to save us from having to fight the enemy on our own shores must be turning over in their foreign graves as this government, all parties, piss away any respect that there may be left for this country! Think of it. We generously allowed these malcontents into our country because they feared beng killed in their country and what did they do to demonstrate their appreciation. Well they became the largest fund raising machine in the world for the Tamil cause against our friend Sri Lanka. Keep in mind Canada has declared that they are terrorists. Terrorists who a year ago demonstrated their contempt for Canada by demonstrating for weeks along University Avenue distrupting traffic and our daily routine and carried out one of the greatest acts of civil disobedience in Canadian history by blocking the traffic on the Gardner Expressway in Toronto. Where were the police and immigration vans during that criminal activity? Were you as surprised as I when you learned how many Tamils have managed to enter Canada? And, over the Xmas holidays they landed in large numbers in Vancouver and Halifax. How would we like it if a group were fighting in Canada for independance and some of them were given refuge in India were they raised millions of dollars to support the fight in Canada and paraded around waving the separatist flags. Would we not demand that India return these people to Canada where we would have them charged for treason. What group are the Tamils raising money for now? This is not speculation as referred to in some of the comments these are the facts. Come-on Canadians let's show some respect for our country our values and rule of law because it is painfully apparent that this group do not. not.
