What should happen to the Tamil asylum seekers? Tue, August 17, 2010
More than three dozen Tamil migrants have been segregated from 492 others who arrived by boat for questioning by police on suspicion of being linked to the Tamil Tigers, or other inadmissible groups, including war criminals.
Only 100 were women and children..so the rest were men? I wonder what their previous job was. How the hell does TO have 200K Tamils? We are losing this country to Muslims and other immigrants who don't give a damn about Canada. They are not and never will be real Canadians. Many immigrants come and assimilate but these cases are becoming more rare. Seal up the borders now before they breed and steal the vote!

We have become a dumping ground for all the people who do not want to become Canadians. They want into Canada and even get citizenship and then build their own country within each province. Like the 100.000 in Ontario all in one area.
I had a hard time getting into Senior Housing and I have worked for 49 years and was born here. They come here illegally and have free access to all I worked for Yet I have trouble accessing these same things.
I look at England and France and know the troubles they already have with Muslims...that will happen here too.
I hope someone in power has the guts to stand up and deport every damn one of the.
Once in, it will continue to happen as Australlia has had 70 such ships so far.

These people should be sent back as to send a message that this approach to getting into Canada will not be tolerated. These people who do this are watching carefully to see what happens (kind of sizing up the competition) and they will send more at what point does this end? And it might sounds cold but i believe most canadians dont want to foot the bill for these people

I am a Canadian citizen, born in 1960 & raised in NFLD. I've payed taxes all my life, I've never married, until last year, to a beautiful Cuban woman. We were married in Cuba, on Feb, of 2009. Before this I worked in Cuba for a Canadian company, for 1 year, this is how we met. Shortly after this I applied to be her sponsor here in Canada, and was excepted in Feb. 2010. My wife, when to Havana, Cuba, for her interview in May of 2010, with the Canadian Embassy, and was refused entry into Canada, under the grounds we were not married long enough, and that there was a language barrier. (To let you know my wife has taken English lessons, and could have done the interview in English). She is "NOT A TERRORIST'S", has no ties to gangs, knows nothing of weapons, is of no threat to Canada, and will be , "NO BURDEN" to Canadian tax payers, because I was excepted to be her sponsor. But was REFUSED ENTRY. So, the Canadian Government is keeping Family members apart, While allowing Boat people to come here, not knowing there passed, and from a country, we know are trying to sent in there Tamil Tigers.
But yet we allow these people that sail across our oceans, and enter illegally into our country, give them Health Care, that a lot of Canadian's are having trouble getting, Give them more Money, than our retired senior citizens old age pension, that they payed into for 50 years. and treat them better than starving Canadian Families living here in our own Country, that are subject to going to food banks, and living in poverty, and having trouble putting there children through schools.
Please answer this for me, "What makes these people better than my wife?" , Cuba living conditions are no better than where they came from, and I when about bringing her here the legal Canadian way. Maybe I should see about getting her on a boat too, to come to Canada, it seems to be the easy way into this Country, without having to pay all the fee's and our Government seems to be excepting them with open arms.
A concerned Citizen,
Max Walsh

It certainly is a shame that our government, our elected officials do not get the message we the people send to them. This is outragious that we keep these people here and don't send them back. These countries are sending us whatever they can to make money and then Canada and it's taxpaying people pay for their lawyers, housing, food, education, etc. Many of these people end up committing crimes and we again pay for their defense etc. We have so many poor ourselves that we cannot afford to house. Having said that I do feel sorry for the less fortunate but where does it end.

While I have not read all the comments, I've read enough to see the general consensus is that these refugrees should not be allowed to enter Canada. And I totally agree. If you want to come to this country, don't come in the back door. A recent poll indicated 67% voted "no entry" to these refugees, especially when we know there are two more boat loads ready to appear on Canadian shores. While the financial assistance is more than enough of a slap-in-the-face to Canadians, I think the main focus should be the fact that they are infected with tuberculosis. We beat this disease in Canada in the 1970s yet in 2005, 63% of TB cases in Canada occurred in people born outside the country and allowed to immigrate here. While our health funds are being used to treat this disease...again...natural born citizens suffer the consequences. What's wrong with this picture??
I realize there are many countries in this world that are poor, poverished, no nature resources, whatever....but it's not my fault you were born there and I was born here. Why should my family and my country suffer financially because of where you were born.
Recently, Canada pledged $33 million to Pakistan...the largest donation of the UN countries. Why does Canada always have to penalize their natural citizens?? Have the politicians never heard of "clean up your own backyard first"???
We can all comment here as much as we want; it's not going to make a difference. Not unless you also send your comments to your local MP...and I mean everyone. Unless these politicians are inundated with negative emails about this situation (and others), there'll be no change. It's time we, natural citizens, stop just giving it lip-service.

What the heck, lets keep letting them all in. Afterall, there just another 490 votes for one of our federal governments parties everlasting battle to find more votes to win the next election. Isn't that what the politics in this country all about.
