Bullies now face fines and possible jail time for calling people names in Hanna, Alta. and their followers who cheer on their taunts could be forced to pay up, too.
I was bullied in school and remember wishing that teachers would step in and stop it. Teachers saw what was going on, and would stop the bullying temporarily by telling everyone to take their seats or by saying that's enough, but never addressed the situation. Bullying is not the fault of teachers, but they need to be more active in stopping it.

All the school experts know nothing about how to stop the bully's or it would of been done by now I think it is good idea for this child to have a bodyguard if it makes him feel safe. I agree with the comment that the bully should have to leave the school my daughter had to be home schooled for her high school years.

ARE BULLING PROBLEMS OUT OF CONTROL???? Yes, Yes and yes again. They are way out of control, sad thing is these kids are getting away with it. This Hug a Thug needs to go, punish these out of control brats and stop letting them get off with their behaviour. Stop this Young Offenders crap and drop this slap on the wrist nonsense, and letting them off for their crimes. As it is a crime to be a bully, because their behaviour doesn't stop at name dropping/slapping/kicking and punching someone, their behaviour continues into more serious situations.
Bullies do not belong in schools, where there are other students that actually want an Education and make something out of themselves. Instead you have these bully students that only want to come to school to impower themselves and try and take control over someone that does not deserve their bad actions/behaviour.
The bullies that want to act like this, then we need to open up a school for the WayWard kids,that careless about people. Name the school, Bully B.S.!!! We do not need these bullies having the chance to interrupt the students that want to learn/educate and move on with their lives, instead of being bothered by these can't seem to get it, bullies!!! These bullies need to take a piece of paper, crumble it up, unfold it and see what bullying looks like. It leaves scars and like that piece of paper,it leaves many marks, that are not so easy if ever to erase. I am sick and tired of hearing, well boys will be boys, or girls will be girls. REALLY??? It is just not that simple, too much for way too long. As a parent, and others on this topic, lets get together and do our best to stop these bullies, and make them pay legelly, if we don't do it, then who???

Hire the Hells Angels to patrol the halls of the schools. Any instances of bullying and crack some heads together. Guaranteed end of bullying. Video everything and should parents of bullies start bitching instead of parenting, a little persuasion there as well.

It is very sad for Mitchell's family. Craig Wilson is an amazing man. He lost his son. Mitchell will never come home again. Bullying is out of control and so is suicide amongst young people as an escape from bullying. We need to start understanding the roles bullies and bullied play. We must educate children, parents, teachers, administrators of every businesses. I am not talking without having walked the talk. If I am reading the story correctly this is not bullying it is full out criminal behaviou followed by victomization of a younger and partially incapacitated boy.
If this criminal was a few years older he ould be doing hard time but because of the "group hug will fix everything" justice system in canada he now has the oppertunity to troll for new victoms with the sure knowledge that there will be no consequenses.
At the minimun the perpetrator should be enjoying the hospitality of the "youth center" and the almost constant company of the shrink so, although we can not eliminate the future victoms, perhaps we can minumize the numbers.

Not_the_Daddy, although the original crime was indeed an assault and robbery, it was followed by bullying incidents. Because of the original crime and the subsequent acts, a young boy is dead and those to blame get off scott-free. I'm sure most of us are outraged. I *hope* most of us are outraged.
