They trailed him for 50 years trying to prove he was a Communist, now more of the secret files on former NDP Leader Tommy Douglas have been released as part of an ongoing court fight.
The documents, submitted to the Federal Court last week and obtained by QMI Agency, shed more light on the suspicions the Mounties held about Douglas and his politics.
What CSIS really do to help the Canadian government?
The Harper government has enlisted CSIS Director Richard Fadden among the 10 bureaucrats to aid Conservative ministers testifying. This is something that speaks loud. The fact that Richard Fadden accepted or was not able to say no, shows that CSIS is not a police service or even a real spy agency. It is a politically influenced organism like East Germany’s Stasi and its bosses obey to political orders. Canadians should one day be able to see what CSIS really do to help the Canadian government.

I think they were just trying to investigate whether or not T.D. was going to stick future Canadians with a 30th rate health system. The book is now closed, and the answer is "Yes".

Why does the fact that the RCMP concerned its self with Tommy Douglas for so many years surprise any one?
To this day CANADA is not an overly hospitable place for Labour or Social Change. Ignoring the fact that the powers that be intended to stay in power one only has to look at history.
The Winnipeg General Strike, 15 May – 25 June 1919 was Canada's best know general strike. The government rallied behind the Commercial Powers that be and sent in the troops to put down the strike.
On June 21 “Bloody Sunday” a charge by the Royal North-West Mounted Police into a crowd of strikers resulted in 30 Casualties,including one death and ended with federal troops occupying the city streets. These strikers were characterized as communists.
The Party in power at the that time was the Liberal party of Canada led first by Sir Wilfred Laurier and then by Daniel D McKenzie.
It is rumoured that Prime Minister Steven Harper also was a subject of interest for the RCMP when the Reform party was born, and in subsequent years (2000 t0 2003). It should come as no surprise that the party in power was once again the Liberals. Self described as Canada's Natural Ruling party, it would appear that they have no qualms about staying that way.

The RCMP weren't watching Tommy Douglas because they honestly thought he was a communist. They were watching him because he was a possible threat to the economic priviledge and status of certain groups of people. Rich factory or mine owners who relied on being able to pay starvation wages to their employees or run scams like company towns where employees were required to buy from company stores at inflated prices, rightfully were worried that the jig was up.

Re Chad Karacsonyi
Chad was prevously charged with sexually assaulting his daughter with the daughters testamony lasting 2hours discribed in detail her abuse starting as her earliest memory of 5 years old.
I was totally disgusted,hearing my grand daughter, I believed her.
Later I found child pornin Chad's night table and on his computer in the room where both Chad and Bernice slept. I shoed it to Maxine his mother. The next morning everything disappeared. Maxine Cooke, Chad's mother and Bernice were aware of my findings and both chose to cover it up.
I was going to testify against Karacsonyi. But then I was deliberately faulse accused of threatening Karacsonyi and removed from my home of which I shared with Maxine Cooke as commonlaw relationship for 14 years akin to husband and wife.
Karacsonyi got off on the charges due to the age of his daughter it was ruled..due to no witnesses and the consideration of the age of his daughter that there was not enough evidense to convict.
Before I was faulsely accused I call Karacsonyi's coucel Mr.Bel Ferdoure and told him I was not going to pay for Chad's defense and was going to testify against him.As you can see there was a cover up, Bernice Smith knew,Maxine Cooke(his mother)knew
I knew and tried to report it and lost everything but most important
I lost a wanderful grand daughter.
This info should have also been presented as back gound to karacsonyi' Child porn charges.Why was it not?
Karacsonyi would have gotten a greater jail term and would deerved it.As far as Bernice Smith she is not an angle she knew of his prior Charge in 2005, with hearing spring 2006. I assume after they falsely accused me Bernice and Chad had a faaling out and this was bernices way of getting back at him. Bernice Smith is no angle she condonned what Chad had done earlier.

I should hope that CSIS or the RCMP have done some sort of investigation on every political representative that are in office and running for office, it is only common sense and good security practise. As for watching them for 50 years? I would assume there must be justification for such a long watch on Tommy Douglas. I'm a staunch conservative but no matter what side of the political fence you sit on you can't deny the positive affect Tommy D has had on improving the living standards for Canadians and secured him a seat in Canadian history as a great leader, humanitarian and man of the people. Said investigations certainly didn't seem to hamper his political agenda, no matter what you think it was.

A lot easier to 'watch' or survail someone who leads a law-abiding life, than to put any effort into watching or actively pursuing REAL criminals..the RCMP has nothing better to do with its resources..?

I would hope that the RCMP and CSIS looked into and kept files on all politicians. Many people have to agree to security and back ground checks for their jobs and activities so why should the people who are striving for positions that could potentially have the most detrimental effect on society be exempt?

It has been Nixon, Reagan, Harper, et al, who have sold the biggest rope (indentured labour, low wages; intellectual, financial and materiel, capital, etc) to a growing capitalizing Beijing Politburo) to hang us with, to steal our jobs, to ransack our state secrets (because people like Harper disdain to waste tax dollars and parasitic jobs on IT security and other big-government frills) and so forth.
We don't have Tommy Douglas around any more to take credit for such accomplishments. And if he was here, he'd probably be fighting for Canada, a better Canada. Like he always did, apart from his lamentable Phd thesis, which was common ignorance in those days.
