If a dozen or so Navy Seals can bring oil prices down $15.00 a barrel with one bullet, I suggest we buy them a new helicopter and a whole truckload of bullets.
Stevie Harper, 2011-05-11 12:16:58

These high gas prices are profit taking by big oil companies and our government is complicit with taxes like the HST

Our rural identity, culture, farms, real state values, jobs, population and sovereignty are at stake.

We have gravel roads. No public transit, too far for bikes to town, and motor cycles are deadly on gravel.

We do have school buses, But our kids suffer for activities, jobs.

Our food and supplies are priced higher from fuel ser charges once we get to town.

There is no room for these high gas prices in our budget.

Are people just stupid or what ?

They blame the poor guy at the gas bar while filling up their gas-guzler so they drive down the street alone to get a pack of smokes while the whole time hoping their stock broker buys shares in oil companies so they'll have money for retirement not realizing its one faceless person(s) making the decision to jack up prices to justify their $500,000.00 a year or more job so they can fill up their limo to drive around in.

want to know how much we are being gouged go to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and try out their gas price calculator - http://www.gasgouge.ca/

"So what is Dan the "gas man" doing about these outrageous prices"

He is telling you in advance prices are going up giving you time to fill up before and save money.

What is Harper doing about it?

Mrs-Brigand, 2011-05-11 09:15:23

Dan the gas man was voted out. He's looking for work.

What did he ever do but tell consumers that the price was going up or down?

That's not what a politician should do, radio stations already do that. Another worthless liberal.

Cliff says..

"it does not seem that there is a single level of government or political party on our side"

Especially Harper. The higher gas goes, the more tax money( plus GST, a tax on a tax) he brings in to help him lower his record setting deficit. And when the deficit does come down with the help of high gas prices, Harper will claim it was because of sound fiscal management
Mrs-Brigand, 2011-05-11 08:27:46

We are simply being raped by oil companies. The Federal Government made this a provincial responsibility. The province is happier to collect tax revenue than to interfere. Oil prices per barrel have fallen. Smart buying doesn't happen at peak highest prices but oil companies can pass on these fictitious costs to consumers! Come on Dalton, don't be useless!

"Canada imports more than half of the crude oil it needs. We purchase around 55 per cent of our oil from countries such as Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. We are also turning increasingly toward new sources including Russian and African producers." -Canadian.org.

The only thing The Harper Regime cares about is Americas Energy Independence, what about Canada's? or Total Lack their of?.

As all our Natural Resources are Literally being Sucks Dry by the South & China.

Sooner or Later, you Mark My Words, Every Canadian will Regret all the Pipelines being built, going Straight Past Canadians.

Of course they are but we weak willed Canadians have no backbone or we would be boycotting one of these multi-nationals for at least 6 months and lets see how quickly they lower there prices. Can't be done i hear you whiners saying well lets see how much of a market share one of these would be willing to lose to another competiror.

As for Peter's pathetic reference to European prices that's not a true comparison as they drive less than 1/2 the distance the average Canadian does and they also have transit systems that are usable too.

And forget about any government help as they are too busy raking in the tax revenues to pay down the deficit to help even if they wanted too.
