What do you think of the Quebec tuition protests? Sun, August 5, 2012
Quebec's emergency law and Montreal's mask-ban law have done little to quell the civil unrest across the province or dampen people's desire to protest.
Tuition is too high everywhere, but this way of protesting is not effective and needs to be stopped.

They already have the lowest tuitions in the whole country, I really think they are a bunch of idiots who want to free load off the rest of us. They do have the right to protest but they do not have the right to destroy other peoples or public property nor to interfer with the day to day life of law abiding citizens. If the break the law charge them.

The situation is getting out of hand in Quebec. This didn't happen in Alberta when our tuition practically doubled over roughly the same proposed timeline faced by those in Montreal.

Why should a student worry about tuition? That is the duty of parents. If you're not in a profession when you get married and your financial future is bleak then have only one child and save for his University costs. We all have only one childhood and it shouldn't be wasted on working in a Bar etc. I practiced what I preached. My Daughter finished her schooling without owing one cent!

forget the fees lets look at what is happening. You have masked individuals commmiting crimes. Now there is a lawyer in the house I stand to be corrected but I blieve there is a section of the Canadian Criminal code that make it a seperate offence to commit a crime while wearing a mask ... the penalty which is seperfate from any thing else arising from the crime is hefty enough to clear this up pretty quick .. time to start using it

As an engineering student at McGill, I paid around $400 a year in the early 50s. The current fee schedule is clearly ridiculously low, and some of the current students are clearly out to lunch to be rioting for free education.

They can't go back in the class because they are driven by the same powerful welfare driven concept that governs an important part of Quebec's society. The students feel ENTITLED to receive, they perceive no duty or commitment towards society.Welcome to communism!

No reasons to complain. They should look around at other provinces and see what the students pay. They would then realize they are pretty fortunate. The government is 100% percent right in holding the rope tight. I also tell the student that the session is over and they missed the boat. They now have to pay to recover what they lost. I would also arrest anyone that defies the new law.

You get what you pay for.

I think they should just shut up and go back to class. They already sport some of the lowest average tuition fees in the country.
