Thu, May 24, 2012

Sweeping new changes to Canada's employment insurance program will require frequent users to broaden their job searches, but won't force professionals into menial jobs as critics warned.

One of the most significant proposals is to include sole proprietors in the new EI net. They will now pay but collecting might be problematical. Among the many reason we ran sole proprietorships, though it COST much more in taxes, was we didn't have to interact as much with Revenue Canada.

We were fine with not being subject to UI/EI deductions and exempt from collecting so-called benefits. However, we wanted the cord to be completely severed and be exempt from CPP also because we KNEW that we could invest the money to more purpose and a better return on our own. If we failed, then fine, at least we wre the authors of our own finances. Sadly, that was not possible.

Now, we are both retired and although I could collect CPP I have not, and when the time comes nor will my wife, apply for benefits. We sure wish we had all that money we sent to Ottawa, over the many years, in our portfolio but cradle-to-grave socialism denied us the opportunity.

We sure hope the government has pissed that money away before the obvious morons on this site have a chance to get their claws on a single penny.

Dont have to see PIEGUY's slip and T4 slips to know he paid next to nothing into the CPP fund.

You know that. Todays working people pay a far greater % of their earnings into the CPP than PIEGUY did.

NEXT?
Mrs-Brigand, 2012-07-06 21:19:01

Ok, so now you have access to PEI guys T4 slips and/or tax returns for the last 4 decades????

Do you????

Because if you don't (which we all know you DON'T), then you are posting CRAP again!

Is your brain completely full of crap?

Complete twitless posting:

Yea but you paid next to nothing CPP or taxes and yet you are receiving more out of the system then those working today who are paying 4 times or more into CPP than you did, and they likely wont see anything back

tweedledee, it appears you should leave comments reguarding economics to people who finished high school.

PIEGUY SAYS

". Pretty bad that I who have never taken a EI or UI claim in my 4 decades of work"

Yea but you paid next to nothing CPP or taxes and yet you are receiving more out of the system then those working today who are paying 4 times or more into CPP than you did, and they likely wont see anything back

They havn't made the necessary Change I'd think was fair and necessary!

Make the people who become regular and frequent claimants pay a higher rate. Pretty bad that I who have never taken a EI or UI claim in my 4 decades of work to pay the same monthly contribution while these ei lifestyle folks ( yeah the seasonal ones too)pay the same. perhaps if they had to pay more they'd rather choose to work.
peiguy, 2012-06-27 16:00:17

I think it is very unfair for those who have seasonal employment. Totally unfair. And I am employed 12 months a year.

Companies and government should recognize talents, give jobs to unemployed people and get everybody going rather than making changes in EI to stuck everyone. Simple logic.

Whats not funny is rent money collected by hippy landlords going to the cartel to kill innocent mexicans instead of circulating and reinvesting here.
freddy vs hippys, 2012-06-10 22:25:57

So Freddy hates landlords and hippies (among who knows how many others)? What's the matter, get booted out by your hippy landlord? Crack is nothing to try to be funny about either.

And I wouldn't paint any member of any group with the same brush. No, I'm not a landlord or hippy and yes this is the worst (not)monitored board ever, it's an embarrassment.
