TORONTO -- Terrance Ali's mother wept as a judge ruled one of her son's killers will be released from jail.
The killer who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act has already served 5.5 years of a 10-year first-degree murder sentence for murdering 15-year-old Ali.
Ali was beaten beyond recognition at a Caribana party in 2003. His naked body was found in Lake Ontario near the Rouge Hill GO station.
The killer, now 23, will be under house arrest under the supervision of his father, uncle and step-mom.
"I am satisfied he met the criteria of exceptional performance," Justice Russell Otter said.
Ali's mom, Moonie, cried throughout the ruling.
