TORONTO -- A teenaged girl started pressuring her boyfriend to kill Stefanie Rengel seven months before the New Year's Day tragedy and threatened to deny him sex until he stabbed her, according to Crown exhibits filed at her trial yesterday.
Excerpts of MSN chats indicated the accused, who can only be legally identified as MT, was violently obsessed with 14-year-old Rengel.
The messages were allegedly seized from the computers of MT, now 17, and her boyfriend, who are both accused of first-degree murder in the Jan. 1, 2008, stabbing death of Rengel.
MT has pleaded not guilty. Her boyfriend, who is now 19 and is known only as DB, will go on trial later this year.
Both MT and her boyfriend provoked each other with stories aimed at making the other jealous, according to the electronic chats.
MT set deadline after deadline throughout 2007 for her lover to kill Rengel.
"I'm gonna f---in' stab her if I want to," MT types in an online message to DB on May 22, 2007.
A month later, MT says she'll get her younger brother to kidnap, rape and murder Rengel and then says to DB, "No sex till then, lol."
In August, an impatient MT apparently wrote, "I'm still waiting for her to die."
And DB replied, "I will call you tomorrow right after the dentist I have info for the killing ... for you, to make you happy."
MT reportedly wrote in a chat with another friend, LZ on Oct. 20, 2007, "She (Stefanie) said I told D to kill her ... and I have no clue what she's talking about."
That day DB went to Rengel's home and told her his girlfriend had "pestered him" to stab her.
In an MSN chat later that day with MT, DB reportedly said, "I need a bang, bang first. I want to bang you." She replied: "I want her dead ... we've been through all this ... u have max until Halloween. Oooh, it should be on Halloween."
MT then jokingly said she was simply a "hooker" to DB, who would have sex with her "against a wall while standing up." Then, they spoke of sexual liaisons in a public park.
MT told her pal JB "I never did anything and neither did DB. We f---ed tonight. lol," in a Facebook conversation on Jan. 1, 2008, the day Rengel was killed. JB responded that two people knew MT wanted Stefanie dead.
"They have no proof and it was probably three months ago," replied MT.
The trial continues today.
