Family torn by attacks on boys
By ROB LAMBERTI, SUN MEDIA
TORONTO -- A man was charged yesterday by Peel Police's special victims unit with sexually assaulting his brother's two sons for the past five years. The man, whose name is being withheld to protect the identities of the teens, now 18 and 15, faces six charges, four counts of sexual assault and single counts of forcible confinement and uttering a death threat. Last night, the father said he was unaware of the attacks until his older son called him, two weeks ago saying he didn't know what to do, couldn't speak of it and threatened to commit suicide. "He said, 'Dad, I want to kill myself. Something happened, I can't tell you.' Then ... I called 911 and the police came," the father said. Officers found him lying in a field and he was taken to hospital. "I am very lucky we saved him," the father said. "We are paying the price." The boys hid the secret from their father, but not their mother. "They told their mom, but she was scared for me," the father said. Now, the father is concerned about the accused's three young children. "Maybe the same thing happened to his own children," the father said. ROB.LAMBERTI@SUNMEDIA.CA |
