CALGARY - Calgary cops are hunting for a female bank robber who struck yesterday and may also be responsible for three other heists last week.
The suspect walked into a CIBC branch in Douglasdale at 11520 24 St. S.E. and demanded cash from a teller about noon yesterday, said Insp. Darren Cave.
"She presented a note and indicated she had a weapon and witnesses saw the female run out of the bank and get into a vehicle," he said.
"She made off with an undisclosed amount of money."
Cave said the suspect may be responsible for the Friday afternoon robbery of the Scotiabank in the 800 block of 85 St. S.W.
During that hold up, a woman also handed a teller a note demanding cash before making her escape.
The suspect also matches the description of a woman wanted for robbing a Scotiabank in the 4800 block of Centre St. N. and a CIBC in the 4600 block of Varsity Dr. N.W. last Tuesday.
"We're looking at that angle just because the general description that we have seems to match up," said Cave, adding the woman in each case is described as having long, blond hair.
"And the fact that it's a female, in itself, is unusual as well."
Cops converged on the bank after yesterday's robbery was reported, but the woman had already fled.
"It is hard to get one particular person responsible for a robbery after they leave the scene," said Cave.
But he said the robber's luck will eventually run out.
"If she keeps up this behaviour, undoubtedly we will locate her," said Cave.
"We have our officers remaining vigilant at all the banks in all areas."
