Four busted after drive-by shooting in T.O.

TORONTO - It was "a miracle" nobody was killed during a drive-by shooting on a busy street in the city's northwest end yesterday, police said.

About five shots rang out as a black 1993 Lexus GS300 drove along Martin Grove Rd., past the Danforth Food Market south of Steeles Ave. W., at about noon, Staff-Sgt. Jack Kelly said.

No injuries were reported as sever al witnesses called police with a description and plate number of the car.

The Lexus made it about two kilometres before cops blocked it in on Finch Ave. The Hwy. 427 access to Finch was blocked off as police performed the "high-risk take-down" of two men and two women inside the vehicle, Kelly said. A handgun and marijuana were allegedly found in the vehicle.

Investigators believe the shootout stemmed from a dispute between the people in the car -- ranging from 20-34 years old -- and a group north of the food market, Kelly said, adding there were luckily no injuries.

The suspects were held into the evening with charges pending.
