Shots fired at home while family sleeps
By SUN MEDIA
The Winnipeg Sun

For the second time in a week, thugs have shot up a home on a Weston street.

About 1:30 a.m. yesterday a family was awakened when bullets flew through the front of their house in the 1500-block of Ross Avenue West.

VERY TROUBLING

On Nov. 8 a different home in the same block was blasted with a shotgun.

No one was injured in either incident, but Winnipeg Police Service spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said the incidents are very troubling.

"It was a high enough calibre of firearm to go through the walls of the house," he said of the latest shooting. "It's very concerning, but there's no indication that this is gang-related and no indication these incidents are linked or why this house was targeted. It appears random at this point."

Family members -- two adults and a child -- were in bed at the time of yesterday's shooting.

Members of the major crimes and forensic identification units continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information regarding yesterday's shooting is asked to call investigators at 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
