Neo-Nazi bombing suspect nabbed
But police still hunting for Aryan Guard member
By DOUG MCINTYRE, SUN MEDIA
The Calgary Sun

CALGARY - One of two hate-mongers accused of orchestrating a targeted bomb attack in northeast Calgary has been nabbed in Manitoba.

The 17-year-old male -- who can't be identified -- will now be shipped back to Calgary to face a slew of charges, including attempted murder, in connection with Saturday's detonation of two home-made bombs at a Rundlehorn Dr. N.E. apartment complex.

Self-proclaimed white supremacist Kyle Robert McKee, the other suspect wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, remains at large.

Police said the 24-year-old Aryan Guard founder's twisted world view is shared by the teen, arrested without incident at 6:15 p.m. Monday as he stepped off a bus in Portage la Prairie, Man.

"A dangerous individual is now off the street," Staff Sgt. Keith Cain said yesterday.

"I don't know why he was going out there, obviously it's a long ways from Calgary."

While Calgary police have yet to interview the teen, preliminary indications are that, like McKee, he's originally from Ontario and may have been headed back there.

A tip on the racist youth's location was received about a half-hour prior to his arrest through the city's public communications centre, with police, in turn, contacting Portage la Prairie RCMP.

Despite the pair's adherence to white power, Cain said their alleged plot appears to have stemmed from "a personal vendetta" -- and not internal squabbling among local neo-Nazis.

A 29-year-old woman living at the targeted apartment suite, who asked not to be named, told the Sun earlier this week McKee's best friend had been "stalking" her and her brush-off of the persistent suitor prompted the incident.

Despite the apparent personal nature of the attack, Cain said police are wary of more violence.

"We believe this was a targeted attack ... but that being said, the type of device that was used could have harmed many people," he said.

Described as about 5-ft.-9 and 140 lb., with a slim build, blue eyes and shaved head, McKee is wanted for attempted murder, possessing, making or controlling explosives and possession of a weapon or imitation for a deadly purpose.
