City police are hunting for a hit-and-run driver who mowed down a man in a parking lot last night, leaving him clinging to life in hospital.
The man, believed to be 32, was leaving the Big Easy bar at 3064 32 St. N.E. with his brother and walking to their car when a silver minivan with three men inside sped through the lot and struck and threw him about six metres before fleeing the scene.
The man was in critical condition last night.
Insp. Rob Williams said video surveillance shows the three men about age 25 were also inside the bar before the incident occurred.
"We have excellent video surveillance of three offenders that were in the van," he said.
"At this point, we don't know which one is the driver."
He said it's not known if the incident was intentional and it seemed they had just been in the parking lot at the same time.
"Video surveillance does not show an altercation in the bar," Williams said.
Police did a grid search of a 20-block radius searching for the van, believed to be a Kia Sedona or Dodge Caravan that may have been dumped.
A hat, shoes, gloves and other clothing, as well as a cell phone, were seen strewn on the driveway.
The brother was not injured but shaken by the incident.
"He's very traumatized," Williams said.
Visibly shaken witnesses were too upset to talk to media but Williams said they gave police good information.
Its not known if alcohol was a factor.
