City cops are on the hunt for a couple of carjackers who stole a Good Samaritan’s vehicle following a northside collision.
The drama began around 9 p.m. Wednesday, when officers were called to a multi-vehicle collision on St. Albert Trail near 137 Avenue.
Moments before police arrived, a female passerby stopped and offered help to a man and woman whose vehicle had been damaged in the crash, police said.
The couple got into the Good Samaritan’s car and to her surprise, the man told her he had a knife and demanded she drive them to St. Albert.
The victim drove the couple a short distance into St. Albert before exiting and fleeing after stopping on St. Albert Trail just north of 156 Street, police said.
The frightened motorist ran to a nearby business and called police, while the two carjackers sped off.
Police said the vehicle they were driving at the time of the collision was stolen.
The man is described as white, about 25 years old and five-foot-10 with an average build and a crew cut-style haircut. He was last seen wearing a white sweater or hoodie and blue jeans.
The woman was described as native, in her early 20s and five-foot-two with black hair and a slight build. She was last seen wearing black pants and a black shirt.
The Good Samaritan’s stolen vehicle was described as a 2002 black four-door Ford Focus with Alberta licence plate URM 583.
