WINNIPEG -- A 16-year-old girl has been charged after a man was fatally stabbed on Little Grand Rapids First Nation.

RCMP said Chris Owens, 22, was found dead on the reserve late Thursday night.

The girl, who is also from Little Grand Rapids, has been charged with second-degree murder. She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg court on Monday.

Police said the victim and the suspect knew one other and that alcohol is believed to have been involved in the incident.

An autopsy conducted Saturday in Winnipeg determined the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest.

RCMP continue to investigate.
