Teen boys admit to murder of Victoria girl

Two teenage boys have pleaded guilty to murdering and dismembering a B.C. teen, then burning her body beyond recognition.

In an agreed statement of facts the teens, who cannot be identified because they were both under 18 at the time of the murder, said they lured Kimberly Proctor, 18, to the home of one of the teens, known in court documents as A.A. There they duct-taped her hands and ankles, used a sock as a gag and also taped her mouth.

The teens then removed her clothes and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

The attack "also included beating and kicking her. She was choked and suffocated and eventually died," the statement of facts said.

Court heard the two boys had separately pursued Proctor as a potential love interest, talking to her via Internet chat programs. While Proctor was flirtatious, she ultimately rejected both of them and the boys stopped talking and texting her in November 2009.

On March 17, A.A. Text-messaged Proctor to say he and the other boy, known as B.B., wanted to talk to her and explain why "everyone was so mean" to her lately. She agreed to meet the boys the next morning.

The agreed statement of facts stated Proctor and A.A. had a lengthy telephone conversation after the texts and while A.A. was talking to her, he was also communicating with B.B. via instant messaging. B.B. was also listening in on the telephone conversation.

While instant messaging each other, the two boys planned how they would "seduce" Proctor, then bind, sexually assault, murder her and burn her body.

"It was a plan they had discussed before," the statement said.

On the morning of March 18, A.A. met Proctor while B.B. went to buy the fuel they planned to use to torch her body. They then returned to A.A.'s house, where the boys sexually assaulted and murdered her.

In a conversation with another friend, identified as X.X., during an online game of World of Warcraft, A.A. admitted to cutting up Proctor's body and mutilating her genitals and organs before he and B.B. put the body in a chest freezer.

Early on March 19, they put Proctor's body in a large duffle bag and boarded a bus, which took them to the spot where they burned her body.

X.X. asked A.A. if they had planned the murder and he said, "yes." When asked why, he said Proctor was an "easy target" and he thought he could get away with it.

When X.X. asked B.B. about the murder, he told her it was A.A.'s idea and he felt bad that he was going to get caught, but not for her family or friends.

After setting Proctor's body on fire, B.B. met his mother and grandmother for brunch while A.A. spent time with his girlfriend.

Proctor was reported missing after she failed to arrive for a babysitting job on March 19.

Her body was found later that day in a wooded area of Galloping Goose Trail on Vancouver Island, about 10 km west of Victoria, B.C., however police needed a few days to identify her.

At the time, police said there was evidence of a fire and the "fire damaged the victim's body, impeding identification."

Police identified suspects in May and two teens were arrested in June.

Neil MacKenzie, spokesman for the B.C. Crown, told QMI Agency the teens will return to court March 28 for sentencing.

"We will be seeking adult sentences," he said.
