VANCOUVER -- A man is recovering from an axe attack at his home in the Kitsilano neighbourhood late Tuesday which left him with a bloody wound on his neck and other injuries.
Vancouver police have arrested his roommate, a 43-year-old man, in connection with the attack. Officers were flagged down by passersby, who discovered the 39-year-old victim bleeding from the neck, shortly before 11 p.m. at a gas station near the 2700 block West 4th Avenue.
Police said the motive appeared to be an argument that quickly escalated to violence.
“Police went to the apartment to find the possible suspect and after a short search he was found hiding in a nearby car and taken into custody without incident,” Const. Lindsey Houghton sad in a statement.
The victim has since been released from hospital. He was treated for several cuts to his head, neck, right hand and arm.
Police are recommending assault causing injury and weapons-related charges against the suspect.
