OPP search for two suspects

SUDBURY, ONT. - Police in northern Ontario were searching for two suspects after a shooting Friday afternoon.

Police were releasing few details about the case. The Ontario Provincial Police called in a helicopter and canine units for the investigation, which is still in its preliminary stages.

Investigators confirmed the two suspects were involved in a break and enter and have identified the cottage where it happened.

But officers wouldn’t say whether or not the suspects had firearms on them. They did say that there has been evidence of firearm activity.

Hariette Reynolds, a resident of the area, was leaving town to go get milk when she happened on two men standing outside of their car. They were near a bridge in the French River area, located southeast of Sudbury.

“The back window was shot out,” she said.

As she drove further along the 607, she saw another car that had it’s driver-side window shot out as well.

In a release Friday evening, police said a suspect “is dangerous to the public and is still at large.”

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Local residents have been told to stay indoors.
