Christopher Barry Larche, 25, is dead after a Thanksgiving weekend dispute.
WINNIPEG — A Thanksgiving weekend dispute between two brothers ended in tragedy, with one young man dead and the other behind bars, police say.
Christopher Barry Larche, 25, died early Monday. His brother, Justin Frederick Larche, 22, is accused of manslaughter.
The pair were with family at a home in the River Heights neighbourhood when they started squabbling during the wee hours of Thanksgiving Day, police said.
Things escalated, and family members tried to step in, police said. The fight carried on, and Justin allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed his brother.
"I have no specific information as to what the argument was about. They were socializing for a period of time, and things escalated," Const. Jason Michalyshen said.
It's "certainly a possibility" that alcohol was involved, Michalyshen said.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 2:10 a.m. Monday. Christopher was found badly injured outside the house.
The suspect was still there when officers arrived.
The mother of the two young men, and the deceased brother's girlfriend, were also in the home at the time.
