SUDBURY, Ont. -- The deceased woman found in a ditch on O'Neil Drive West in Garson late Saturday morning has been identified as Stephanie Cummings, 24, who was reported missing earlier this month.
Greater Sudbury Police said Cummings' body was found by a couple out for a walk about 11 a.m.
Cummings' vehicle was located parked and apparently abandoned in the New Sudbury Centre parking lot the night of Oct. 2.
Police are calling the death suspicious and brought the city's mobile command centre as well as an all-terrain vehicle to the scene on Saturday. Officers remained there on Sunday and were searching the area.
Area resident John Sliede, who regularly walks the length of O'Neil Drive West as part of his regular regimen, told QMI Agency on Saturday he had seen nothing out of the ordinary earlier this week in that portion of the street where police were set up.
The street becomes a dead end to the west of where the body was found.
Police are asking for the public's help for any information on Cummings' whereabouts prior to Oct. 13.
