Cop arrested again for harassment

OTTAWA - A Gatineau, Que., police officer is in custody on criminal harassment charges for a second time this year.

David Bedard appeared in court Thursday morning for a second set of criminal harassment charges.

He is to remain in custody until his next court appearance on Oct. 29.

Bedard was first arrested for criminal harassment in February and was released from custody under strict conditions.

Cops say the second set of allegations were made on Wednesday and police acted quickly to arrest Bedard, given his previous arrest.

Bedard has been a police officer for 12 years.

Both allegations are unrelated to his police work and are connected to his personal life, police said.
