Top court to rule on Momin Khawaja case
By Jessica Murphy, Parliamentary Bureau
Computer-programmer-turned-convicted-terrorist Momin Khawaja will learn Friday if his life sentence will stand. Canada's highest court will rule whether to uphold the conviction on seven terror charges that sent Khawaja to prison with a life sentence plus another 24 years, or order a new trial or acquit him outright. The Supreme Court will also review the definition of "terrorist activity" under Canada's Criminal Code and whether it's unconstitutional and overly broad. |
