VANCOUVER - The city's police chief admitted the investigation into the disappearence of dozens of marginalized women from the Downtown Eastside was filled with “mistakes.”

Chief Const. Jim Chu issued another apology to the families of serial killer Robert Pickton’s victims Tuesday, the day after the Missing Women Inquiry report was released to the public.

“We could have and should have caught Pickton sooner,” he said, adding he’s open to the input provided in inquiry commissioner Wally Oppal’s 1,400-page report.
