Police are looking for two men who beat and tied up an elderly couple in Vaughan, Ont., before stealing their Christmas presents from under the tree.

York Regional Police said the suspects broke into the house at about 3 a.m. on Saturday and demanded cash and jewelry from the homeowners.

The couple gave them cash, and the suspects tied them up with clothing.

"The suspects then ransacked the house, gathering all of the Christmas presents from underneath the tree and fled from the area," police said in a release Monday morning.

The couple, a 75-year-old woman and 78-year-old man, untied themselves and went to a neighbour's house to call police.

They were taken to hospital and the woman has since been released. The man is being treated for a non-life threatening head wound.

The suspects are described as black men, both with a thin build in dark clothes. One man was about 6-foot-2 and the other man was 5-foot-10.
