TORONTO — Investigators are trying to determine whether a Hummer — involved in the death of a seven-year-old boy in Mississauga, Ont., on New Year’s Day — was stolen, police said.

The hunt is on for a suspect who rammed the Hummer into the back of a Honda Odyssey minivan Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. on Hwy. 401 and kept driving. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Dixie.

“We’re going to a conference call with our detectives and see if they have any further information,” Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Dave Woodford said. He couldn’t specify how fast the Hummer was travelling or whether alcohol might have played a role.

Police identified the dead boy as Jacob Favila.
