OTTAWA - The cellblock sex assault trial of Ottawa Police Sgt. Steven Desjourdy resumed Wednesday with another sergeant testifying he has no memory of being told the woman - whose shirt and bra were cut off - was suicidal.
Sgt. David Christie was the supervisor on duty in the Elgin St. station cell block when the woman, who’d been arrested for public intoxication, was brought in on Sept. 6, 2008.
He was relieved by Desjourdy, who was later captured on video cutting off the woman’s clothing with scissors as she’s held down by other officers.
Christie said the policy is for the arresting officer to tell the cell block sergeant anything relevant - such as whether a prisoner is violent, suicidal or an escape risk - when he or she is “paraded” by the sergeant.
“I don’t have any recollection of being provided any information,” Christie said. “I didn’t make any notes with regard to (the woman).”
