OTTAWA - Self-described "poz vampire" Steven Boone was acquitted Thursday of attempted murder, despite the fact the judge said she believes he wanted to infect his developmentally delayed sex partner with HIV.

Judge Bonnie Warkentin said the complainant's testimony was simply too unreliable.

"The evidence of (the complainant) is confusing and changed each time he provided evidence," Warkentin said. "Notwithstanding that I found that Mr. Boone intended to attempt to infect (him) with HIV, I am not satisfied that the very high onus on the Crown...has been met."
