A woman convicted of torturing and killing animals and who is known to act violently towards people has taken up residence in Vancouver.

B.C. Corrections issued a release Monday saying Kayla Bourque, 23, has an “escalating criminal history. She has offended violently against both people and animals and is considered high risk to re-offend.”

The Prince George, B.C., native received an eight-month sentence after being convicted of causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to animals; willfully and without lawful excuse killing animals; and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
