CALGARY— New charges have been laid against a convicted child porn offender and former cop, including sexual assault, following a year-long investigation.

The charges, which include sexual assault with a firearm and possession of child pornography, stem from allegations,in January that a woman in her 50s was being criminally harassed by her ex-boyfriend and that she had been previously sexually assaulted while in their one-year relationship.

Through the investigation, police learned the suspect had been accessing images of child pornography, said Staff Sgt. Ryan Ayliffe.

On Friday, police arrested Stephen Huggett, 58, and searched his home.
