TORONTO — A surgical resident says a hysterectomy patient who went on to accuse anesthesiologist George Doodnaught of sexual assault during her operation asked an odd question during the two-hour procedure.
"I heard the patient say something like, 'How are my tubes?'" Dr. Melanie Campbell testified Wednesday.
She recalled repeating the question to Doodnaught who was behind a sterile surgical screen administering sedation to the 39-year-old mother of twins on Feb. 11, 2010.
“'No,' " Doodnaught clarified for her. "She said, 'How are my boobs?'"
When Campbell looked puzzled, she said Doodnaught explained that their patient had recently had breast augmentation surgery.
Campbell's hysterectomy patient later accused Doodnaught of sexually assaulting her behind the sterile draping and her charge ultimately led to his current trial for alleged attacks against 21 different patients between 2006 and 2010.
