TORONTO — A retired teacher testified Thursday that she recalls Dr. George Doodnaught French kissing her while she was under light sedation for a knee replacement operation at North York General Hospital in 2008.

Now 61, the woman is one of 21 patients who allege the anesthesiologist sexually assaulted them behind the sterile surgical drape that separated their head and upper body from the rest of the surgical team during their operations.

Doodnaught, 64, has pleaded not guilty to attacking the patients between 2006 and 2010.

The teacher described Doodnaught as "very reassuring" and "very kind" when he introduced himself in the hallway before her knee operation. She was given an epidural and sedation.

"The next thing I remember is the sensation of being French kissed. I remember feeling a tongue being inserted and I remember I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't move," she testified. "This was a very experienced French kisser."

She later asked her son and daughter-in-law, both veterinary surgeons, whether the surgical drugs could have caused a hallucination of being French kissed.
