The chief of anesthesia at Toronto’s North York General Hospital promised that Dr. George Doodnaught would be closely supervised and with that assurance, she dropped her complaint of sexual assault against her anesthesiologist.

“I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, it was his word against mine,” the woman recalled bitterly. “I said fine but I wanted to make sure that measures were implemented in the hospital that this incident doesn’t happen again.”

But they abused her trust.

Four years after her 2006 allegation, Doodnaught was under arrest for sexually assaulting several patients and the hospital had the audacity to tell the media they’d never had any previous complaints. “I just felt so betrayed by the hospital,” she testified Friday.

"And then I felt lips on my lips from the back, kissing me."
