LAVAL, Que. -- Laval police shot and wounded a suspect being hunted in the stabbing of two men Thursday.

Police were called to an apartment about 5 p.m. and found two bleeding victims, one 40 years old the other 85, along with a rifle case.

The unidentified 34-year-old suspect, who lives in the same triplex as the victims, was located by police with the aid of a tracking dog behind the Horticultural Training Centre. He was armed with a rifle.

The suspect apparently pointed his weapon at police and at least one cop opened fire, hitting the man, who was taken Sacred Heart Hospital.

The suspect is know to police and may be suffering from a psychological disorder. He was also under a court order prohibiting him from possessing firearms.

The two stabbed men are also in hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
