Suspect can't recall who 'gave' him SUV

OTTAWA – When Richard Blake was arrested, he described the man who hugged him and gave him an SUV stolen from a bloody home invasion as having "white teeth like a movie star" and a scruffy beard.

But cross-examined about that "mysterious stranger" Tuesday at his attempted murder trial, Blake said "I can't remember anything about his face."

"The stranger who according to you is the whole reason you've been charged with these offences, you don't remember he had facial hair?" Crown attorney Meaghan Cunningham asked.

"I only met him for five minutes," Blake said.

Right after his arrest, Blake described the man to a detective.
