At risk with his own family, a 10-year-old boy was placed in a Winnipeg foster home only to suffer a year of repeated sex abuse at the hands of his 18-year-old foster brother.

The now 19-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of sexual assault in connection with repeated abuse committed between June 2011 and April 2012.

The man is severely mentally challenged, with an IQ below 70.

The abuse started when the man entered the sleeping boy’s bedroom and kissed him on the lips, Crown attorney Scott Cooper told court.
