Quebec doctor admits to having sex with patient
By QMI Agency

Dr. Walif Chbeir. (BEN PELOSSE/QMI Agency)

MONTREAL - A doctor from the Gatineau, Que., area pleaded guilty Tuesday in front of the Quebec Medical College disciplinary panel, to having sex with a patient at her home in 2010.

The patient claimed Walif Chbeir sexually assaulted her when she was partially incapacitated after leg surgery.

Chbeir maintained the sex was consensual. Police have not charged the doctor with any crime.

The woman claimed Chbeir visited her home for additional treatment and forced her to have sex.

"I was lying in bed so that he could examine my arm," she told the disciplinary panel. "He then put pressure on my shoulder and grabbed my breasts. I told him to stop and that I didn't want to have sex with him. But he wouldn't listen."

However, Chbeir's lawyer introduced a January 2011 document in which another doctor wrote in the woman's file that she received money for the sexual encounter.

The hearing resumed Wednesday.
