HALIFAX -- The Commission for Public Complaints is investigating the Nova Scotia RCMP in connection with a hitman-for-hire case.
The conduct of the RCMP was called into question after Nicole Ryan Doucet was granted a stay of proceedings by the Supreme Court of Canada earlier this month.
Two lower courts acquitted the ex-wife of Canadian Forces member Michael Ryan of trying to hire a hit man to kill her ex-husband.
RCMP had planted a sting and recorded Doucet offering the would-be assassin cash. She later claimed she was acting under duress because she had endured years of abuse at the hands of Ryan.
