ORANGEVILLE, Ont. -- The man accused of killing a young Toronto escort and dumping her body in a ditch was remanded in custody in an Orangeville courtroom on Wednesday.

It was a quick court appearance for Christopher Andronakos, 35, who is accused of killing one-time roommate Kera Freeland, 20, whose lifeless body was found in a ditch 70 km northeast of Toronto in March 2011.

A handcuffed Andronakos, charged with second-degree murder, sat in the prisoner's box dressed in the same red, white and black-striped track jacket he was wearing when arrested in Calgary on Jan. 30.

He was returned to Ontario Feb. 1.
