TORONTO - Anesthesiologist George Doodnaught insisted a female patient be “conscious but sedated” and forced her to engage in a sex act during some corrective abdominal surgery, court heard Monday.

The 28-year-old woman testified she overheard Doodnaught and her surgeon, Dr. Stan Feinberg, have a disagreement shortly before her procedure on Dec. 11, 2009.

Feinberg wanted the patient rendered unconscious with a general anesthetic, court heard.

This approach was used by another doctor during the woman’s operation the day before. The patient had suffered extremely painful complications from the first procedure, which necessitated the second, Justice David McCombs was told.

Doodnaught convinced Feinberg to keep the patient “conscious but sedated” instead of unconscious, she testified.
