Days before stealing plow, Richard Kachkar asked about forgiveness
By Michele Mandel, QMI Agency

Richard Kachkar is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Toronto Police Sgt. Ryan Russell.

TORONTO – In retrospect, it seems a prescient question.

Just days before he ran down Sgt. Ryan Russell with a stolen snowplow in midtown Toronto, Richard Kachkar was attending morning Bible classes at his St. Catharines homeless shelter and had a query for a fellow resident that seemed to come "out of the blue."

"He said, 'If I do something incredibly wrong, will I have to leave God?'" recalled Kathleen Male.
