WHITBY, Ont. — Police are on the hunt for suspects in this town east of Toronto after a shooting left four men injured — one critically — on Thursday afternoon.

Durham Regional Police were contacted around 12:30 p.m. about a shooting on the seventh floor of an apartment complex at 101 White Oaks Court and the tactical support unit team is now on the scene.

All of the victims are receiving medical treatment, one was transported by air ambulance to Toronto’s St. Mike’s hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are trying to locate the suspects and speak to witnesses.

A building resident told QMI Agency that a friend on the floor of the shooting said he “heard four gunshots, and then he saw some guy pushed back into the elevator, then the elevator went down to (the basement), then some girl starting screaming bloody murder down on (the basement).”

The resident was watching the closed circuit broadcast of the lobby and said she saw four men taken out of the building on a stretcher at different intervals.

“It happened on the seventh floor, apparently it happened in the hallway,” she said.

The resident added an “old lady” lived in the apartment closest to where the shooting happened with her kids, believed to be between the ages of 19 and 30, as well as her grandchildren.

“I hope none of the kids were home today. Police are everywhere. It’s not a good situation.”
