QUEBEC CITY - The first murder victim of the year in Quebec City - along with her suspected killer - lived in the same building Quebec Public Security Minister Stephane Bergeron.

Quebec City police haven't released many details on the slaying of Linda McInnis, which police said occurred around Jan. 4, the day she was reportedly last seen alive.

McInnis is the second person murdered in the building since Bergeron, the man responsible for Quebecers' safety, moved in.

Bergeron is not implicated in either case.

The first murder was in 2006 when Catherine Bourbonniere, 27, was stabbed to death by her ex-lover.

Bergeron's spokeswoman said the minister would not comment on private issues. QMI Agency was unable to learn if Bergeron had met the latest victim or her suspected killer.

Quebec City police told QMI Agency that they weren't aware of any connection between Bergeron and McInnis.

"(Bergeron) may have been questioned when police interviewed the building's residents, but I cannot confirm that," a police spokeswoman said.
